The adjustable sleep volume allows you to select a comfortable "sleep" volume level without affecting the alarm or listening volume levels

The sleep function gently decreases before shutting off entirely, to avoid startling you from sleep (ditto on the alarm, which gently gets louder, so you don't smash the alarm clock).
